Prospect FAQ
Future Outlaws Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the commonly asked questions we get from prospective cadets and their answers.
Q. How has your outfit done academically in previous years?
A. As of the end of the spring 2010 Semester, Squadron 8 had the 1st highest GPR of any other technical outfit in the Corps or any other Air Force outfit. We also had the 8th highest cumulative GPR in the entire Corps. Squadron 8 is dedicated to academics and our previous terms results prove this.
Q. Will I be given enough time to study for classes?
A. Each freshman and sophomore in squadron 8 is required to sit a minimum of 24 hours of study time each week. Outside of this there will be plenty of time for you to study more than that if you so choose to.
Q. Will there be anybody to help me in the outfit if I need help with my classes?
A. Since we are a technical outfit we do have a majority of upperclassmen who will also be technical majors and will have taken the same classes that you will be going through your freshman year. Because of this, we will be able to give you excellent advice and help in these classes, which will make your classes easier.
Q. How do the Outlaws handle physical training?
A. Our outfit has a strict training schedule that we adhere to daily which makes sure the freshmen, as well as all other upperclassmen, are prepared to max out the corps physical fitness test. As a result of our physical training we consistently score first overall in physical fitness for Second Wing. Our outfit is also the only one that trains and participates in a half marathon every year.
Q. Does your outfit take part in intramural sports?
A. The freshman class takes part in intramural football, softball, and basketball every year, and for the past 2 years our freshman have been the intramural champions in the Corps intramural football league, and have made it very far in the playoffs for both basketball and softball.
Q. How many members of Squadron 8 join the armed forces?
A. We have about 60% of our upperclassmen graduate from the corps and join the armed forces. We have the majority of them join the Air Force, and about 10% join other branches of the military.
Q. How many pilots has squadron 8 created in years past?
A. For as long as Squadron 8 has been producing new and outstanding military officers, we have never had someone who has desired a pilot slot be denied that position. Furthermore, the only 3 F-22 Raptor pilots to come out of the Corps of Cadets were Outlaws
